NetSquared, an initiative of TechSoupGlobal.org – "The 3rd Digital Media and Learning Competition, from the MacArthur Foundation, is now accepting applications. Much has been written criticizing the contest and the initial selection of 100 charities who already received $25,000 and are now vying for the grand prize of $1,000,000.
Here at TechSoup, we know that contests and challenges are an excellent way to marshal the enthusiasm and talent of our community. Our annual Digital Storytelling Challenge , Restart Romania , and NetSquared challenges are just a few examples of how we get our community members engaged at multiple levels. How to Participate.
We see it in the broad range of projects that responded to our NetSquared Challenges. We see it in the stories that people have shared in our S how Your Impact contests. And they've seen results — at least a 25% decrease in water-borne diseases after the intervention.

Depending on your resources and budget, adding a gaming element to your organization's campaigns could be as simple as a social media contest or as elaborate as developing your own game-like app. You might be able to find help from NetSquared , an initiative from TechSoup Global. Experiment with online contests, both creating them and participating in them. Online contests like the Knight News Challenge , The Case Foundation's America's Giving Challenge , and the AmEx Cardmember Project can be resource draining to participate in, especially for a time- and cash-strapped nonprofit.
