December 12, 2007 I had a good look at NTEN’s CRM Satisfaction Survey (yippee for data!), and although the sample sizes were small, and not representative of the nonprofit sector as a whole, the people surveyed seemed to like the open source tools available. That’s pretty impressive.

In April 2012 NTEN worked with Idealware to conduct a survey of nonprofits about their relationships with data, and what we found was a large dichotomy—either they were doing a lot with their metrics or not much at all. Here is a sample of what we found: 99% of respondents track some sort of metrics.
The first one is one that I’ve been using recently for my consulting business – SugarCRM. It also gets kudos from NTEN’s satisfaction survey (it came in third, after CiviCRM and Salesforce.) Unlike CiviCRM, which is targeted to nonprofits, SugarCRM is a system targeted toward sales in for-profit companies.
