Its natural to assume the cause is born of an individual failurethe leader lacks competence, their boss didnt prepare or train them well, they dont care about how others experience them. Leaders should receive training on how to model these values in their daily interactions. And many of these reasons certainly hold true.

I’m also trying to shift my own practice into more design and train the trainers and coach the coaches versus direct delivery. My theory of practice is different than my consulting philosophy. Actually, a client had a grant proposal, and it included the consultant’s “theory of practice&# which of course is something that most organizational development/effectiveness type consultants have, but rather few technology consultants have.
Many organizations provide trainings, courses, and varied sorts of learning activities to their constituents. Increasingly, a wide variety of training opportunities are being delivered via LMS. Most proprietary LMS are geared specifically toward the college/university or corporate training markets, and are thus quite expensive.
A couple of days ago, she made a call on her blog for academics to stop publishing articles in closed journals. For the last three years, I’ve devoted virtually every day to the challenge of training professionals and especially volunteer fundraisers to overcome the fear of asking for gifts for their favorite nonprofits. April 7, 2007 I had heard about this new journal a while ago, and it was sitting in some small corner of my brain, waiting for me to pay attention. I ran into an old colleague at NTC , and it came up, because he had been thinking of contributing to the journal, but decided that he probably won’t, for reasons I will talk about.

I think part of the answer has to be to provide the resources for people to become better providers – whether it be to help budding accidental techies get off the ground to become great IT staff or independent consultants, or helping individual and small consulting firms learn what makes really good nonprofit support.
