There are, of course, some tweaks we can make to make sure that everyone really can gain value from NTC, and we can sustain the richness that it contains.
NTC wouldn''t be NTC without the social part! Nonprofit Engagement Party, hosted by Idealist Consulting and sponsored by Breakeven, Circe, IATS and KnowWho, is back and better than ever! The NPO Engagement party is at 7pm on Friday, April 12th in Minneapolis, at the NTC. The Charleston is not required, but fun is a must.

Every year, we receive a lot of great proposals from vendors and consultants who work with nonprofits – and we love to get those, so keep them coming! – The 2012 NTC will take place in San Francisco, April 3-5. Thanks for being a part of our community, and we hope to see you in San Francisco.
Each year, we at NTEN work hard to make the NTC a more environmentally sustainable event -- this year we even have carbon offsets for travelers! On Thursday, April 9th at 8:00 am, we kicked off the tenth Annual Day of Service at NTEN's NTC which was a resounding success! One of the case studies I shared was about NTEN’s recent social fundraiser to raise scholarship money for NTC conference attendance. They set up a c ommunity champions campaign on Razoo and asked their champions to commit to raising $500 each and that the money would be matched by the NTEN board.

The NTC is an event largely attended by Americans (and our gentle neighbors to the North). We're still not sure what the right way forward is - more straight up service projects, back to the one on one consults? What we WILL do is make this an issue we can discuss as a community when NTC planning picks up this summer.
For the past five years, I've coordinated the NTEN/NTC Day of Service and before that participated as a volunteer. Volunteers had the option to do a strategy consult and stay at the hotel or leave the building and go on-site. I think it might help to do some more vetting for the strategy consults and match the pairs in advance.

An example of our early "brand" circa 2005 Like everything else that has gone well in my career, it started with a NTC (Nonprofit Technology Conference). At the 2008 conference, I attended a session presented by Farra Trompeter of Big Duck Consulting. Sounded perfect. Our website got a new look. It's just a facelift.
I have a number of colleagues who I have been seeing almost every year at the NTC for the past decade. I have also been involved with the Day of Service , the annual conference event where techies give back to the local community for the past decade, along with my colleague Cheryl Hanback who ran the first one.

A group of nonprofit techies share their time and expertise with nonprofits from the local community. We're not proclaiming wide ranging social impact, just giving a little back to the community. The NTC Open Salons will be your opportunity to talk techie with your peers in ad-hoc, participant-driven sessions not represented on the regular NTC Agenda. NTC Salons are not typical presentation-style sessions, but peer-sharing sessions.
