I have not been blogging because I've been at the NTEN NTC Conference , the premier event for nonprofit techies taking place in San Francisco. We have a hashtag and many of us tweet to one another, leave comments on blogs or Facebook profiles regularly.
Something similar happened a few years back when NTEN scheduled NTC over Passover. It's how I met Holly Ross in the first place. Now I'm on the Board of NTEN and Holly and I joke about my being the "calendar police" since she almost scheduled a NTC over Passover again another year and I caught it in time.
Over the years, we’ve had lots of requests for a job board for the NTEN community. We aim to please and we’re thrilled to announce a beta version of NTEN’s brand new job board. NTEN’s Nonprofit Tech Job Board is a platform dedicated exclusively to paid nonprofit technology career opportunities. Got questions? Suggestions?
NTEN''s newest team member, Bethany, is focused on our community programs, including the Communities of Practice and Tech Clubs. How did you first become involved with the NTEN community? I discovered NTEN and the nptech community about four years ago. Personal, direct emails and comments from personal accounts go a long way.

April 23, 2008 NTEN is doing some great work getting information about the use of different kinds of tools in the sector, and how people are using them. and how they like them. They are doing a CMS satisfaction survey, and the more info that they get, the better. So go rate your CMS ! {
After the webinar, I’ll be putting the slides up in varied places, and NTEN will have a recording of the webinar. { And you don’t need to feel overwhelmed by vendor sales-talk – it’s possible to get things translated to language you understand.
NTEN is trying to get a handle on all of this, and find out what people use, and how much they like what they use. It’s such an interesting space, and there are some really intriguing things happening with software in that space. I can’t wait to get my grubby little fingers on the data on CiviCRM and Salesforce.
Yesterday, Holly Ross at NTEN , mentioned that a common question she gets after talking about Social Media with nonprofits is from organizations that work with students or young people and are concerned about liability issues surrounding what students who “like&# their page may post on their page, or on their own walls.
I want to give huge props to Holly and all of the NTEN crew for putting on a fabulous conference. NTEN keeps surprising me with cool stuff for nonprofit tech peeps. The application deadline for this year’s prize: September 1, 2008. Last year’s winner was Barry Warsaw, lead developer of the awesome Mailman mailing list manager. Ruby Sinreich is a new phenomenon ! You go girl! And I’m on the board!
NTEN’s Nonprofit Technology Conference held each Spring is always THE place to be for nonprofit techies: whether you work in a nonprofit organization or with one, are totally technical or fell into your techie job, like social media or like wiring an office. It’s still mighty small (still around 2%), but Linux Desktop market share grew from 40-60% (depending on who you ask) from last year. Adobe (yeah, Adobe ) joined the Linux Foundation , and released a Linux alpha of Air , their new application platform. {

In addition, they are portable – you can move your data from place to place. Basically, it means that the data that you put into social networking sites, like profiles, social graph (those who you are connected to,) media, etc. are *yours* to do whatever you want with. And you have control over who can see what.
