Facebook has updated its NewsFeed algorithm again. It means that they want more people to know what is going on around them…and by pushing more stories with the most comments, the most shares, and the most likes to the top of your feed, they believe you will want to see that story. Which feed do you prefer?
In December 2009, Facebook announced that Boxes would be removed, Tabs would shrink in size to 520 pixels, and Status Updates showing up in the NewsFeed(s) would no longer be guaranteed (the more Comments and Thumbs Up your Status Updates receive, the more NewsFeed exposure you get). No more Default Landing Tabs.
Mark Zuckerberg’s social network announced today that users would be given the power over who can comment on their posts. The options consist of Public, Friends, or only those profiles and pages that have been tagged.
And though some individual users are upset over the changes, most of the them are good news for nonprofits. Status Updates are now called “Stories” in the NewsFeed. Top Stories get priority placement at the top of the NewsFeed while others are placed lower in the NewsFeed under “Recent Stories.”
But small nonprofits are going have a harder time with the new Pages, at the very least initially, because: 1) Status Updates showing up in the NewsFeed to all fans is no longer guaranteed. 90% of the power of a Facebook Fan Page is being able to post Status Updates that can be viewed by fans in their NewsFeed.
However, to stand out from the other nearly one hundred million Facebook Pages vying for likes, comments, and shares, your nonprofit needs to excel at Facebook to ensure NewsFeed exposure. Their experience of your page will occur primarily in the NewsFeed. First impressions are important on social media.

I would have been incredibly annoyed if at 10,000 fans the Page would have lost NewsFeed exposure. and in the NewsFeed of your Fans. Number of Comments and Likes per Impression. Comments + Likes)/Impressions.
