There are lots of examples of projects that use crowdsourcing, even this one! Their hesitancy may come from not knowing what crowdsourcing means or how it works: so show them examples, but also show how the project you are working on could benefit from crowdsourcing and how the elements of crowdsourcing align with your project goals.
That word change supports co-design, it encourages collaboration, and it ensures engagement. If there’s an idea that the community is behind, and a project or plan that’s adopted (whether it’s a new way of operating or a new tool), then it moves forward, regardless of “who” thought it up or campaigned for it. Communities are flexible.
Part of my role as the Global Community Development Manager at NetSquared is to support and grow our offline organizers from around the world.
