As a kid, I was saturated by symphony performances and choral music. You gravitated toward the museum, zoo, gallery, symphony, cultural management organization because of your roots. Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh created a Summer Adventure program. My dad was a conductor and composer, my mom his accompanist.

It is what it sounds like: a book of original sheet music, beautifully designed and complemented with artwork and text. Beck''s project is unusual because he deliberately resurrected a mostly-defunct participatory platform: sheet music for popular songs. Sheet music is a beautiful analogy for this.

Before the MAH exhibition, those historic surfboards rested deep in the collection storage of the Bishop Museum in Hawaii. Their music was relevant to the crowd. They made magic at the MAH.
