After I finished teaching an intensive Networked NGO workshop for Packard family planning grantees in Delhi, I headed to Bangalore to visit my friend and colleague, Rufina Fernandes where I conducted a social media workshop for staff and teachers and got see a start up education company and its CSR program, close up. Current growth is occurring in parts of the world where “NGO” and “ONG” are commonly used terms and in regions where “nonprofit” and “charity” are more common, many nonprofits and charities are purchasing the domains (they are sold as a bundle) and having them forward to their.ORG website(s).

My last stop in New Delhi was to visit the American India Foundation, which is the largest Silicon Valley/India foundation. This school is run by an NGO (a nonprofit) and provides free education to children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. The children were simply delightful.

I recently learned about an nonprofit organization in India dedicated to using video to help alleviate poverty and accelerate social change in the developing world. They partner with a range of NGOs to create an ongoing community video unit to support the NGO's programs by placing a full-time trainer in the NGO for a one-year period.
