The First Christian Church of Beardstown is a non-sectarian Christian church in rural west-central Illinois. The church sponsors the Beardstown Christian Academy , which is a pre-K through 8 elementary school that serves 110 children. It has 300 members. Charity Technology in the Heartland. It has a population of about 6,000 people.

The classrooms have child-size boats and construction vehicles children can play on, and ceilings painted to resemble outer space. Windows are low to the ground so children can easily look outside. Hallways are lined with a corrugated plastic for wiggly fingers to touch as children transition to other locations.

Unlike many other nonprofits, Catalogue for Philanthropy used the day to raise dollars for over 200 local nonprofits in their area. The Autism Society of Minnesota hosted an interactive brunch livestream for their A Toast to AuSM event, holding virtual demonstrations from local chefs so that participants could follow along at home.

I want to highlight a blog that I've been reading for a while, the Tutor Mentor Connection blog written by Daniel Bassill out of Chicago, Illinois. This year they have become part of the adult tutor/mentor corps, and are now volunteering to help other Cabrini Green children move through school and into college then careers.
