The projects varied from educational tools for children to energy efficiency. Another interesting concept was a mobile tech shop for homeless shelters. ReWrite Oakland. Caravan Studios' Sarah Washburn attended ReWrite Oakland , which focused on rebuilding the Oakland City website to make it easier to use and more accessible.

Pogo Park is transforming three neglected parks in Richmond California into magical play spaces for 8,000 at-risk children. The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights is a civil rights and restorative justice organization for prisoners and for Oakland young adults.

Steve Williams: When I was in college I did a lot of service work around homelessness issues. I was like, "It's cool doing it," but I recognize that regardless of how hard I worked in the homeless shelter, that every day there were more and more people, who were forced to come to the shelter because they had nowhere else to go.

Save the Children. In doing so, they provide 2,500 meals and 200 bags of groceries for clients in the San Francisco and Oakland area every day. Top Nonprofit Website: Save the Children US. We worked with Save the Children US to create their customized child sponsorship experience, and we’re proud of the result!

And as Britt said, I also am the Art and Media Director at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights , which is based out of Oakland. We have four initiatives.
