The project is called “ Tech2Empower ,” organized by Wake , an organization on a quest to leverage technology for women’s empowerment globally. Seventy-five percent are women and children. These organizations will have intensive and hands-on tech training and mentoring during the workshop.

Human trafficking survivors are better able to access the kinds of resources necessary to get safe and stable housing, social services, and economic empowerment. We think so. WORTH, which stands for Workshop for Rehabilitation and Training of the Handicapped, aims to create opportunities for vocational training and avenues for employment for people with different needs in India. Other programs include a school for the speech- and hearing-impaired and a day-care center for children with intellectual challenges.

Empowerment for our participants comes from connecting to an inner wisdom that is often kept hidden from public view, but is a place of extraordinary innate strength and well being. During these workshops I felt a peace that seemed to resonate around the room. Traveling Postcards workshops are easy and fun for everyone.

SC: I'd started working with an organization called YouthAIDS which provides services and products to children worldwide who are affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis. But every time I would leave a workshop, I would leave with this haunting feeling of, "Now what?" This challenge benefited the Cambodian Children's Fund out of Cambodia.

She is donating 100 percent of the royalties from the book to the Global Fund for Women. Britt Bravo: In so many of the groups you profiled, the women were using the arts for education, empowerment, or healing. The children are ages 6-16, and they're making huge strides by leading a national movement against child rape in Zimbabwe.
