Their story was one of the ones that stood out the most for me from the series, so I was thrilled when a woman named Houria Iderkou, who set up a Causes campaign for KickStart on Facebook, contacted me to see if I'd like to interview Fisher. We started off with equipment, for example, in Kenya, for manufacturing low-cost building materials.

She is donating 100 percent of the royalties from the book to the Global Fund for Women. I went to 15 countries on five continents, and interviewed and photographed 129 women. Both an installation artist and photographer, Naomi was the founder and director of The Cradle Project , a large scale installation calling attention and raising funds for the 48 million children orphaned in Sub-Saharan Africa. I had the opportunity to interview her on March 6th for the Big Vision Podcast, and have included an edited transcript of the interview below. Women and their children are disproportionately victims of outside violence as well. Women and children are 70% of those who live on less than $2 or $1 a day.
