PeacePlayers International is a nonprofit organization that uses basketball to unite and educate children and their communities in conflict and post-conflict areas. They have programs in Northern Ireland, South Africa, the Middle East and Cyprus. Beth Kanter posted about this a couple weeks ago.

It’s a wonderful slice of the American story which up until recently has been largely overlooked. Children go door to door dressed as an angel reciting verses from the bible story and opening piñatas filled with presents and candies. This festival is a little like a Christmas version of trick or treating. Nicholas Day.
