September Issue NTEN Journal. The new issue of the NTEN Change Journal is all about data! In its recent survey on the State of Nonprofit Cybersecurity , NTEN found that nearly 70% of nonprofits do not have policies and procedures in place in case of a cyberattack. As nonprofit professionals, we understand the importance of protecting our organizational data and the privacy of those in our community.
On the recent NTEN community call someone asked the panel to name 5 vendors (other than Blackbaud and Convio) to whom we’d send a CRM system RFP for a $100 million nonprofit. Supports multiple locations or chapters, multiple currencies, multiple languages, and multiple character sets.
The State of Nonprofit Data report was released this week (hat tip to Ted Fickes ). Idealware and NTEN prepared the report based on a survey in April 2012 with nearly 400 nonprofit organizations about how they manage and use data. The report found that nonprofits are either doing a lot with their metrics or not much at all.

When I took the helm of NTEN just a few short years ago, I really wish someone had handed me a book that outlined all the stuff I was now supposed to worry about: finance, legal, human resources, and of course technology.
Colleagues Allyson Kapin who founded a web agency called Rad Campaign (they designed my blog) and Amy Sample Ward, who the NTEN Membership Director (and I’ve known since 2007 ) have published a new how to book called “ Social Change Any Time Every Where.” So, I’ve been practicing by creating visual notes.
