Just before noon, I decided to go online and see what those in my networks were sharing from their own celebrations or reflections, and immediately found the #GoSilent campaign from Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). It pulled me in, and then everywhere I looked online I saw it was pulling in others!

Aside from the largesse of one donor, most of the funds were from pledges attributed to individual marathon participants.

If you’re having difficulty finding a small business that would be willing to partner with you, there are plenty of national chain restaurants that offer a rewarding restaurant fundraising program, from Chipotle to Panera. Charge a small fee if parents want a copy or two of the photos for their photo albums. Rubber ducky races.
