Empowerment for our participants comes from connecting to an inner wisdom that is often kept hidden from public view, but is a place of extraordinary innate strength and well being. During these workshops I felt a peace that seemed to resonate around the room. Traveling Postcards workshops are easy and fun for everyone.

Britt Bravo: In so many of the groups you profiled, the women were using the arts for education, empowerment, or healing. PG: I think that the one that comes to mind first is a wonderful picture of women in Kenya who are growing corn. Celebrating Women was book number two. Right at the end of that period, I also was teaching.

I met Van Jones about 10 years ago and he was doing criminal justice work and building the new program here, which was Police Watch, and really addressing police brutality, and we met in a Challenging White Supremacy workshop lead by Sharon Martinez back in 1995. So we're bringing a lot of elements together, the innerpersonal the activist.
