Lots of people have already weighed in on Blackbaud’s purchase of Convio (two of my favorites: [link] and [link] ). Idealware’s Consumer’s Guide to Low Cost Donor Management Systems reviewed 30 systems, the majority of which don’t come from Convio or Blackbaud. I’m also concerned about the confusion this will cause in the industry.

According to studies by Chris Olivola “when people anticipate that they're going to have to suffer to raise money for a charity, then their willingness to contribute to that cause actually goes up.” Peer-to-peer fundraising events often bringing in more revenue than any other fundraising campaign.
In that spirit, Convio released their comprehensive online marketing study today that looked at close to 600 nonprofit organizations’ online marketing results and compiled benchmarks for evaluating fundraising, email, advocacy, and marketing success online. Some highlights… Austin noted that Convio now has almost 1,300 clients, after the acquisition of GetActive earlier this year. Measure – look at social activity data to learn who you are influencing, what is causing activity, what content is effective and what you can optimize.
