In Darah’s words: I basically started the site in November as a combination of social media interests and helping others in their fight vs cancer. The end result would be more followers for us, great PR for the sponsor (and a good deed) and $ and awareness through tweet to the cancer charity. Not bad, but nothing fantastic.
Following the selection, two organizations, New Entry Sustainable Farming Project and Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County were nominated to receive transformational Salesforce services undertaken without charge. DREAM’s annual report is doing everything right: beautiful images, student stories, and (of course) thanking their donors. And I tell my students that Ill give to any of the worthy causes they pour their hearts into, but they have to ask me in person (not on Facebook)! Currently (on my lowly grad student budget), I only give money to one nonprofit org. I like to be informed of what the organization is doing, but I dont want mail solicitations.
It’s likely going to be another long one, so for those of you who just want it short and bittersweet, here it is: I will be leaving Fight Colorectal Cancer at the end of this year to join Convio’s Common Ground team. Colorectal cancer isn’t the death sentence it was in 1998 when my father was diagnosed.
