Consider this virtual event idea to build a sustainable donation strategy around more global donors for current campaigns, future fundraising efforts, and recurring monthly gifts. Build registration tiers with more incentives to promote higher gift amounts . Set a default donation amount for monthly gifts that appeals to most donors.

The big-gift story is surprisingly easy to sell, especially if you can say it’s “the biggest gift in our organization’s history.” Emphasize what you will do with the gift and how it will impact the community. It’s okay if the donor wants to remain anonymous. That adds a bit of intrigue!

And while for some giving regularly is a matter of time and attention and for others it may be a limited budget and giving in micro-donations, cash gifts of very small amounts made with one or two mouse clicks like the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign or the Wellwishes Campaign. Ask people to donate to a cause instead of gifts.

I told her that I was going to send her a little gift for her birthday, and she said, "No, no, no, no. You can call yourself 'Secret Agent L, All-Around Swell Chick and Girl Spy.'" The two of us went to a local hospital during a cancer expo, and we basically, for lack of a better word, we hijacked the place. Don't send me anything.
