There was a $25 donation from Samathida Kem, the daughter of Kem Sokha, a human rights leader in Cambodia. I've never met them face-to-face, but almost four years to the day, our paths crossed virtually when their father, a human rights activist, was thrown in jail in Cambodia. I am sitting here amazed that we were able to meet the campaign goal for the Cambodia Bloggers Summit in about week's time. The good folks at ChipIn , the personal fundraising widget that I used for this campaign, put forth a challenge. This not only gave me courage to launch this campaign, but helped leverage contributions.
But collective action isn’t enough unless there is collective impact. Think about all those marathons or walking events for social causes that have been around before Facebook. Their approach empowers everyday individuals to use their creativity to raise money from their networks.
