I’ve used a variety of email clients of one sort or another over time, and I have recently just decided to ditch them, and use gmail exclusively. I use Canned Responses to provide HTML signatures when needed, and also forward all of my mail to gmail, then send out mail as other identities. It works for multiple projects.

When Gmail came out a few years ago, I read the raves from other NpTechers. But why can't shift from Outlook to gmail? Then I kept dual systems and finally about 2-3 years ago, I made a partial switch - may calendar. Exported my contacts from Outlook into Gmail. How to synch my treo calendar with google calendar.

Are you still using a Gmail, Yahoo!, You currently use a Gmail or similar email address for your organization, rather than a hosted email address such as You@YourOrganization.org. I use Spanning Sync to keep iCal and Address Book on the laptop in sync with iCal and Address Book on the Mac (and in sync with Google Calendar and Gmail). I use DropBox to make sure I have important files with me (and to hold my 1Password keychain file s o my login passwords are automatically synced ).

Google Apps is a cloud system that can manage your organization's email, calendar, documents and sites. IT staff set up an automatic backup of each employee's Outlook file to their server every night, to ensure that nothing was lost. Since each file was quite large, a lot of space was required to store it all.
