.” The Ivorian startup acts as an online and point-of-sale payment solution for merchants to process payment from more than 130 different payment operators — mobile-money, bank cards, wallets — in nine French-speaking African countries: Ivory Coast, Senegal, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Congo, Guinea and Benin.
The company was originally a cross-border trade platform for transacting business goods in Africa. That business model got WaystoCap into Y Combinator’s Winter batch in 2017, making it the first company accepted from Morocco. The company subsequently raised a $3 million seed round.
A short competition also enabled participants to put what they learnt to practical use by conceptualizing business plans. The platform has been rolled out to 54 African countries and will support the gathering, access, management and analysis of quality data from African countries.
