From there, I ended up going to the Burma-Thai border and working with women refugees who had fled the ethnic cleansing under the Burmese dictatorship. Those women asked me to be their messenger. I recognized that it would be a greater risk for me not to do this; it was almost like something would die inside of me if I didn't do it.
