Martus is Benetech's free and open source software package designed for human rights activists to collect stories and data about human rights abuses. We gathered input from other current and past users via online surveys and phone interviews, and we’re still gathering feedback.

The program guides environmental project managers through a series of step-by-step interview wizards similar to the popular TurboTax program. It is open source software, but we're experimenting with a revenue model to sustain the project over the long term. We've just launched Miradi.

Disaster Relief: Described their efforts for Tsunami and Katrina and mentioned efforts for Burma and China. Valued open-source software that is cheap, flexible, easy and multi-featured. News coverage is a major driver of giving.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting one of our longtime Martus partners in Thailand, The Network for Human Rights Documentation – Burma ( ND-Burma ).
