I’ve just returned from keynoting the first Social Good Brazil conference that took place in Florianapolis, sometimes referred to the “Silicon Valley” of Brasil and where the nonprofit, social good, innovation, and technology community is leading the social change movement. I had a lot of fun with my keynote.

A hot topic at the SCCR20/WIPO discussions in Geneva on global access to materials by the print disabilities is the term "Trusted Intermediaries"("TIs"). proposal has similar (but not quite as out there) language saying that the organization using the exception has to have the trust of both the publishers and the consumer groups.

I came away with a much better understanding of the issues they are exploring and certainly did my part to articulate why I support the positions we have. The most interesting part of the conversation was around what I call the “dueling moral high grounds” issue: authors rights and the rights of people with disabilities.
