I was assigned to write a piece for the Blogher Holiday guide for this Sunday. My assignment: Recommend 10 (or more) nonprofits or causes that people may consider as a holiday gift. Describe what you think a contribution to this charity in someone's honor as a holiday gift would be an awesome gift.

I am a big believer in gift economies. I think that the nonprofit tech community in general operates a lot out of a gift economy model.

I have many examples from my own children and those of Sharing Foundation stakeholders - many who are adoptive parents and have encouraged their children to give back to Cambodia.
