My fellow BlogHer co-editor, Beth Kanter , has launched a fundraising campaign using ChipIn. Between now and December 31st, Beth is working to raise $750 for the Sharing Foundation , an NGO that works with local officials, orphanages, and NGOs in Cambodia to improve children's lives.

The last BlogHer Conference session I went to yesterday, before leaving early to go to a wedding, was about using blogging for Community Assistance. You don’t have to create a nonprofit or NGO. As I was leaving, the group began discussing how to create a BlogHer Relief Network--I hope it happens.

Last month I wrote a short post for Blogher, Roadies for a Cause , about a nonprofit called Lokahi Outreach , that partners with organizations like the ONE campaign and Oxfam to help them do grassroots campaigning on the road. He did his degree in NGO Management, and will be graduating this coming June. Cross-posted from BlogHer. He showed so much leadership and promise that we ended up sponsoring him to a university through our FORGE education fund. His dream was to go back to Sudan, and to contribute and help rebuild.
