Lisa Canter has brought the fundraising campaign for Leng Sopharath to the 50% mark! Almost two years ago at the first Blogher Conference I was lucky enough to interview and get to know Lisa Canter (we aren't related but I learned a few things about the kanter/canter name from her husband, Marc ). Lisa's post is here. I played flute.
I'm pulling together all my notes and will post reflections about all the campaign shortly! So, if don't worry that we're over goal - there are many children who will benefit from the additional support. Tharum, who I had the pleasure of meeting via my work with Global s, has linked to the Campaign. I'm elated that we made goal.
I don't usually like to post about corporate campaigns, but I liked the idea of this one, so I'll bend the rules. I liked a couple party ideas from their site: A treasure hunt where everything the guests find is donated to a children's hospital. Cross-posted from BlogHer. children party gift green donation

I was really happy because I immediately thought this would be terrific personal fundraising campaign to get a couple of laptops for the Sharing Foundation college students (like Leng Sopharath) and for the computer school. So, it makes very difficult to get motivated to do a fundraising campaign for some unknown recipient.
I caught up with Jen Lemen's post " To Cambodia With Love " I met Jen at Blogher last summer in a session about Global Women Bloghers. One of the panelist had asked the room on my behalf for t-shirts for my suitcase campaign and Jen gave me a her blogher schwag! s reports on Twitter. could actually.
FIRM is currently running the Building America Together Campaign , a national campaign to build the strength of immigrant rights in the US, and to work for just and humane immigration reform. They show an organization the cool campaign or website, but don't give the organization the tools or insights needed to build their own.
I've just donated to his campaign and here's why. Reciprocity : Roger Carr helped me with winning the America's Giving Challenge he blogged (more than once I might add), left supportive comments, retweeted to his network ( connected me to Dr. Mani ), and personally donated to my campaign. Hint - the three R words.
My fellow BlogHer co-editor, Beth Kanter , has launched a fundraising campaign using ChipIn. Between now and December 31st, Beth is working to raise $750 for the Sharing Foundation , an NGO that works with local officials, orphanages, and NGOs in Cambodia to improve children's lives. She sits on their board.
Photo by Life in Africa For this week's BlogHer Holiday Guide post, I needed to come up with a list of nonprofit organizations or causes that BlogHer readers may consider making a donation to as part of their year-end giving. I have two favorites: The Sharing Foundation which supports children in Cambodia and Creative Commons.
A few months back, I wrote about a Facebook campaign to reinstate Ranger Rick's Facebook profile. Nonprofits online activists organized a protest on Facebook to encourage Facebook to bring back our hero, who has been the organization's spokesperson to encourage Americans to protect wildlife for our children's future.
As I mentioned in a post a couple weeks ago, I've started writing a weekly feature over at Blogher called Solutionary Women. MOMS is a grassroots movement of pregnant women, nursing mothers, and other caregivers who are concerned about the threat that environmental contaminants pose to our unborn and nursing children.
Hats off to Lisa, Jory, and Elisa (as well as to my fellow BlogHer CE editors) for posting such brilliant thoughts about this topic. Andy's post yesterday describes how he is experimenting incorporating the use of Twitter into this campaign. Looks other nptech bloggers and social networks are supporting this effort too!
" Save the Children , one of the few relief agencies allowed to operate in-country, said the toll would rise sharply in the coming days as more victims were found in difficult to reach areas. Right now, thousands and thousands of women and children in Myanmar, need help. And BlogHer has responded. Campaign for Burma.
You don't necessarily see women keynote at technology conferences (well accept for women focused technology conferences like blogher ), but Geoff was trying hard ensure a gender balanced program and succeeded. Geoff Livingston invited me to keynote the conference along with Shel Israel , author of Twitterville.
" So, it comes as no surprise that every holiday season the magazine chooses nonprofit partners and runs a fundraising/subscription campaign. Each chapter offers drop-in tutoring, field trips, workshops, and in-schools programs -- all free of charge -- for children, classes, and schools with particular interests or particular needs.
I understand that you just completed a highly successful personal fundraising campaign - what were you raising money for and why? It was the first time an organization like Compassion had used social networking as a medium to raise awareness and release children from poverty. Cross posted at BlogHer.
That’s why I started interviewing women (and men) for the Big Vision Podcast , and my Solutionary Women series on BlogHer who get up in the morning and have a big vision for a better world as their alarm clock. Even so, I know that breast milk is superior to any other choice. Educate yourself. Find like-minded people to share your vision.
