Last week I spoke at BlogHer '11, a gathering of over 3,000 women bloggers. One of the main reasons I go to BlogHer is to connect with old friends and to make new ones like: Beth of My Plastic-free Life. It was my fifth, and favorite BlogHer conference, largely because of the location. BlogHer '12 : August 2-4, 2012 (NYC).
The nonprofit technology social calendar was packed full this evening with events happening all over Harvard Square, from the Symposium on Social Architecture co-sponsored by Corante and the Berkman Center to the 501 C3Tech Club gathering to a Blogher Meetup ! They said so many funny things that I was so busy laughing didn't take good notes. Alexandra Samuels said that she go interested in learning to blog efficiently because it was easier to reprogram her blog than her two-year old! She's a great stand up comic and so is Marnie. next time a paper handout would also be nice.
This morning at the BlogHer Conference, about 40 "green" and "social change" bloggers, organizations and companies got together for a Birds of a Feather Meetup. I asked folks to give me their cards so I could share who attended with you.

Blogher's first big social event was Friday night dinner was at the Andiamo Cafe for approximately 140 people. We stayed on the back patio with another blogher from LA and nursed a few drinks to help us mingle. There was a lot of networking going on - exchange of business cards, digital clicks, and I suspect some recordings.
I'm finally back home after an extended business trip that began with the Blogher 2006 conference. Hundreds of blogs, individual web sites and small business web sites ??? What would be the result if we could mobilize the blogher network? and a few celebrities - have linked to Network for Good at times of crisis.

The networking was fabulous - meeting many new bloggers in the Boston area as well as seeing long-time blogher buddies and of course, Jory, Lisa, and Elisa. BlogHer always inspires me and this one did not fail. It was better than eating chocolate!

At Blogher, I met JD Lasica and in a jet-lagged state couldn't remember his name as I loaded his photo into my flickr account. I came out of my busy work trip with a list of ideas. During the edublogging session, he mentioned the new Learning Center at OurMedia. I would love to see more instructional videos as well.

What I will be talking about at BlogHer is the idea of getting your customers to do the talking on the blog. Understandable as most are in the business of saving lives, preventing illness, educating the masses about prevention, detection, treatment, etc. The same might work extremely well for a non-profit.
