When a nonprofit partners with a company on project that uses social media, what metrics do you use to measure success?
Matt Asay, blogger of all things in open source biz models, thinks Google Code may have overtaken Sourceforge. Mozilla Labs announces the winners of their Extend Firefox2 contest – the best Firefox add-ons. Then, all monthly hosting fees are waved if more than a certain amount of money is transacted using the payment system.
The editor/blogger can also email individually and thank them for reading—and why not throw in a few questions about what content they’d like to see and what other blogs they read? They are hosting a contest to win $10,000K to celebrate their launch. Sixdegrees.org is running a contest with Hanes T-shirts to win $10,000K. According to the NTEN Blog , Blackbaud , a provider of services designed for nonprofits, has launched Blackbaud Labs , a sandbox for projects in the pipeline.
My thought was to blog about the cause (a stretch), but to share as much learning about personal/social fundraising or what I'm learning about social networks - that should be of interest some readers - and even those I'm competing with for the contest.

The NTEN's NTC and NPTech Pipe. We have the NPTech Meta Tag Feed (which aggregates about dozen feeds of NpTech tagged items and I'm still using for various reasons); Kikono.org (which uses an NpTech feed and digg like features) and now we have the two pipes from NTEN - the NTC pipe and the NpTech Pipe.

It may be easy for big groups, with photogenic interests -- like the National Wildlife Federation's Wildlife Habitat program or The Nature Conservancy's nature picture contest -- to use something like Flickr, but you're too small? I have just returned from a week in New Orleans where I participated in the Nonprofit Technology Conference hosted by NTEN. I've organized social media workshops that also "give away" some equipment or software usually a contest. I wrote about the experience on BlogHer last week. " Why?
Get granular - figure how how many unique visits a particular blogger sent, a Facebook Event, or Digg. . Cautions against it not being a popularity contest, but the number grows because people get some value from part of an active, informative, and value-driven community.
On the other side of the world, OneWebDay organizers in Manila are rocking out at their "OneWebDay Jam and Awards Ceremony," where they will host a battle of the bands and recognize the winners of contests for young bloggers, artists who submit pieces on the digital divide, and entrepreneurs. Define something small and tangible - whether it be a flickr photo contest or exploring the content related to your organization's issue and identifying 10 friends or contacts. In addition, several UK bloggers are focusing on nonprofits and social networking tools are also must reads - Steve Bridger , David Wilcox , and Nick Booth.
I remember hearing a presentation at a recent PBS Conference where the PBS engaged bloggers talked about this and how concerned they were about negative comments - but that community corrected those. There is also a generic organization one - but a lot of NTEN conversations happen through Holly and other staff.
September 17, 2007 There is an interesting discussion happening between Holly Ross, soon to be ED of NTEN, and Allan Benamer , about web statistics, and whether or not nonprofits should be “transparent&# and publish their web statistics. And, he thinks that NTEN should be responsive to him, as a member, in asking to publish web stats.
