A benchmarking process can be as simple as finding a handful of similar nonprofit organizations and comparing your key performance metrics. Take this example comparing nonprofits performance in pinerest. Or you may use a sector wide benchmarking study such as the NTEN Social Networking Benchmarking Study.

Working on our 2011 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study , we noticed something interesting when looking at year-over-year data by sector: The share of online revenue from monthly giving for International groups seemed to decline from 2009 to 2010. For this Benchmarks Extra , we separated the data for one-time giving and monthly giving.
They have released two studies, one on the “wired wealthy&# and another which is a “nonprofit benchmark index&# study – basically providing some benchmarks for organizations to measure themselves against, traffic, email newsletter click through rates, etc. They’ve been doing some nonprofit research.
The Nonprofit Social Network Benchmark Report , our joint project with Common Knowledge and thePort, told you that 86% of nonprofits have a presence on Facebook. If you are a social media data junky, then you are in luck because M&R and NTEN recently analyzed Facebook statistics for the 40 organizations surveyed in their 2011 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study. “If groups had a lot of email subscribers, they tended to have lots of Facebook fans,&# said the study.
