My colleague, Ivan Boothe, who works with the Genocide Intervention Network and who is incredible smart about integrating social media into cause-related campaigns, pinged me about this reddit campaign. So in that case, we got a two-for-one -- both raising awareness of the issue and flooding a decisionmaker with an important column.

There is a lot of buzz about "free agent fundraisers" an individual using personal fundraising to raise money for a nonprofit organization. The free agent community exists on a social network and decides, as a group, to raise funds for an unafilliated nonprofit organization. The Reddit fundraising challenge that raised almost $60,000.

Be aware of key accomplishments, metrics, testimonials, and milestones. Facebook , Reddit , LinkedIn , and Twitter have great options.

Cats looking sweet, doing funny things or, well, just being cats, have proved irrefutable online hits on the web and savvy marketers are all too aware of this. A while back, a picture of cuddly cat Refurb made it to the front page of viral entertainment website Reddit – a fate which is not easily achieved. Refurb the Cat.

” Chelsea took a photo with her Smartphone and posted it on the Reddit, a community aggregation site where content is ranked and rated. Lots of discussion threads that come out of Reddit such as “I can’t believe that someone who is a minister acted this way.” Lots of chatter beyond the Reddit community.
