In Iran we’ve seen it used to get out information and resist censorship but have also seen it used by the government to alter a mobile phone system and monitoring calls. Technology is amoral – it doesn’t care.
We see the tragic consequences when fear and hatred win out over the Golden Rule in places like the Middle East, Iran, North Korea, Darfur, Zimbabwe, and Myanmar. I accept this award today with an abiding faith in America and an audacious faith in the future of mankind.
