It's a low profit LLC specifically structured so that private foundations can invest in it and not have to go to the IRS for a letter ruling to approve this form of PRI (program related investment). This meeting moved the conversation forward. One new initiative that I got to hear about was the L3C proposed in North Carolina.

The NOHO Senior Arts Colony and the Long Beach Senior Arts Colony will open in 2012. In 2011, he received the James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award. One of its project is the Burbank Senior Artists Colony , a first-of-its-kind senior apartment community with high-end arts amenities and programs (how cool is that?).

Peattie received a notice from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development that said HUD is terminating this award because it no longer effectuates the program goals or agency priorities. In Southern California, the Long Beach-based Fair Housing Foundation told Capital & Main in an email that its funding remained intact.
