Department of Education gave us a major award on September 28, 2007. Our newest human rights project is looking closely at the human rights challenges in Darfur. We are nearing completion of our assessment of Darfur-related NGOs and their qualitative documentation on human rights abuses.

According to their site: "The International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded Beijing the 2008 Olympic Games in 2001, disregarding international criticism of China's human rights record. They've organized an international Olympic Torch Relay which began on August 9 in Chad, near the Darfur border, and will finish in China in January.

She also won the 2005 National Magazine Award for Reporting for her article, " Dying in Darfur ," in The New Yorker. This year's speaker was journalist, Samantha Power , who received the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction for her book, A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide.
