Every second of every day nonprofits around the world are posting status updates, tweets, and messages on social networks attached to avatars with cropped art work and/or unreadable text. This is one of the most obvious mistakes nonprofits (and small businesses) make on the Social Web, and fortunately, one of the easiest to remedy.

It will automatically pull in your avatar, apply your Twitter username to your Pinterest account (such as pinterest.com/nonprofitorgs ), and sync your account with Twitter in case you occasionally want to share Pinterest Pins with your Twitter community. If you have a Twitter account, sign up with your Twitter username and password.

In January, I interviewed Sibley about the potential use of virtual worlds and Second Life by museums, but in the four months since then, the virtual world platform--and the hype around it--has exploded. It seems that Second Life is both the closest and farthest thing from many museum professionals' minds.

That's my avatar, I'm live blogging from Second Life. This morning I attended the MacArthur Foundation Digital Learning briefing that was taking place at the Natural History Museum in NYC. I also had a web browser window open so I could watch the videocast of event. That's Danah Boyd in RL who was also live blogging the event.

SL has the potential to add a new level to the existing web technologies. s article has been linked to from all over the web, expect more of these me-too???s a couple of times and yet fall into the web 3.0, Six worlds, avatars, lots of chat and even then screens receiving video for. web geeks and cardboard cutout avatars.
