Given Sony’s photography ambitions for the 5 II, I’ll allow it the physical shutter control, but the Google Assistant button feels unnecessary — especially in a position that’s too low to be convenient to press. Sony’s approach to smartphone photography is twofold. The pro photography mode gives you a wealth of controls.

Bose’s sporty shades offer good sound, a steady fit, and total awareness It’s still fair to call audio sunglasses a niche category, but with Bose offering several models, Amazon in the game , and counting recent announcements from Razer and JLab , it’s certainly a growing one. Describing the sound quality of audio sunglasses can be tricky.

It’s tactile and actually presses in instead of relying on capacitive touch sensors. I greatly prefer this approach since you won’t have to deal with accidental presses as often when adjusting the earbuds. The button only requires a light press, so you’re not constantly jamming the buds deeper into your ears.

That said, they still sound very good for the price; Sony rarely skimps on audio quality. Track controls are on the right earbud: tap once for pause / play, press twice to skip tracks, and three times to go back. The C500s lack the noise cancellation, LDAC support, and richer audio experience of the much pricier 1000XM4s.

Good sound quality and best-in-class noise cancellation come in an awkwardly big case Bose’s original true wireless earbuds, the SoundSport Free, sounded fantastic but were foiled by connectivity problems and audio / video sync issues that the company never fully resolved. But at twice the thickness of an AirPods case, it could be for some.
