The HBO Max team wants its app to not just be the place people find big movie premieres but podcasts, too. The company announced today that it’s planning to release its new Batman podcast, Batman: The Audio Adventures , as an in-app exclusive, meaning it won’t make its way to other podcasting apps or be available through an RSS feed.

Like movie sites, vacation planning sites want you to have the full multimedia experience. I know there are plug-ins I can install that will disable flash and scripting, but I’ve found those to penalize my surfing experience on other sites that know how to respect their visitors. Drives me batty. I get that.

When subtitles are well done, they don’t take audiences out of the immersive experience of a good show or movie. Being able to guarantee consistent results with fast turnaround times is especially important now that OTT services are erasing international and cultural barriers between audiences, and the shows and movies they watch.

Try writing a script with a two-column approach. Use the first column for imagery and the second column for audio. Like all good stories, your final script should have a clear beginning, middle, and end. A video treatment app like Cinema FV5 or Movie Looks (to add color treatments to your video, if so desired).

Once you understand these five elements, you’ll be able to pick them out in TV shows, movies, books, and news articles. Just as in movie scores, the music can set the tone and enforce the message.

Use a script: Write out your questions in advance and this keeps you on track. I have to stick it in people's faces to get acceptable (to me) audio quality. Speaking of good audio, I raised this question on the video bloggers listserv and David Tames (who took the photo stills in the video) offered some great tricks here.
