A cheerful curly-haired deli owner stands in front of 30 of us and shares a quote he loves: "Artists live in the present and write detailed histories of the future." You can write a vision for yourself, your organization, your project, or your team. It was even more useful to learn how participatory writing visions can be.

It’s not unusual for us to meet with an environmental activist, a balloon artist, a farmer, and the Mayor of Santa Cruz all in one day. We never received a “how-to-guide” for collaborating with community members here at the MAH, but over time, we have acquired some basic tools that have shaped our approach. Make time for them.

Visitor Co-Created Museum Experiences This session was a dream for me, one that brought together instigators of three participatory exhibit projects: MN150 (Kate Roberts), Click! This spanned all the projects. being as transparent as possible about the selection and production process. This was particularly true for Click!

Of course, the objects were chosen for their pecularities, and in some cases, such as a giant licorice tricycle shaped like a shoe , the imagined usage (guide dog training distraction device) is almost as reasonable as the real thing (2000 Olympics closing ceremony vehicle). The participatory element is modeled well by the "official" content.

Is this a research project? Here’s what happened: an art critic named Jerry Saltz posted an incendiary note on Facebook about the very low representation of women artists on the 4th and 5th floors (painting and sculpture) of MoMA. When those spaces are factored in, there are more than 250 works by female artists on view now.

Artprize invited me to talk about art with artists, families, security guards, friends, people old and young, sophisticated and novice, drunk and sober. Then get yourself to Grand Rapids for Artprize. It's the social experience.

In a straightforward way, Marilyn explains how her team developed a participatory project to improve engagement in a gallery with an awkward entry.
