The Odditoreum is a temporary gallery for the summer school holiday in which the Powerhouse is displaying eighteen very odd objects alongside fanciful (and fictitious) labels written by children's book author Shaun Tan, schoolchildren, and visitors. People are having fun with this experience, and who can blame them?

I might not go to a children's museum for a recharge, nor would I necessarily see myself as a good facilitator if I dragged my friends through a crowded mega-museum. My three priority leisure goals are to be outside, increase my physical abilities (usually in a social setting), and create fun and beautiful things to use.

Our proto-users are artists, architects, university professors, mathematicians, engineers who have already been experimenting with creating interactive environments and objects within the virtual world. I can talk to an artist about her digital storytelling piece while watching two engineers experiment with a sensor-rich dance floor.

Offer something fun and appealing to do that required entering the exhibition? How about break it down for younger children?" Reassert the "forum"?

Another garden, also in India, has put money into either retirement funds, because the government doesn't give that to them, and funds for parents with disabled children. It was exhilarating to see them inspired to create their own meanings in response: lovers whispering together in alcoves, people of all ages writing and drawing on walls and post-its, children painting, everyone sitting rapt before screens. The sole gallery holds extraordinary paintings by Joan Brown, mostly reflecting her deep love of cats.

Does anyone in the room identify as an artist, by any chance? I just want to dispel the myth that we are not activists and that we are not artists. One of the things for me, in going to protests and demonstrations about different issues, is that I felt that the protests were really boring, dry and preachy, not fun and compelling.
