We have 325 social media sites that we post to regularly, but in addition to all of the ones that everyone knows about, two of the most effective are Posterous and TrafficGeyser because we can post once to these accounts and they syndicate out to hundreds of article, podcast, blog, video and photo sites at once. Please summarize your ROI.

One way to get people to create content for you is through contests. A common form of contest among companies is the “create a commercial&# contest. Among organizations, contests may seem like a short-cut to get compelling content, and cheaply. The current Heinz contest is a great example.

Be careful with these types of contests as the motivation behind joining the email list may not be as aligned with the organization, and can lead to lower donation conversions as well as higher unsubscribes. What will not have a good ROI? An UnGala frees up your organization and staff, helping you focus your energy where needed most and raise a lot quickly, with a higher ROI. Considerations: have an impartial umpire or judge for the games so that its a fair contest for all. Which parts of this can be moved online? Live-Streaming.

It may be easy for big groups, with photogenic interests -- like the National Wildlife Federation's Wildlife Habitat program or The Nature Conservancy's nature picture contest -- to use something like Flickr, but you're too small? Determine the ROI of Social Media. What's that you say? Balderdash! Or the Women's Museum.
