Last year, when I turned 51, I posted a challenge on my blog - could I get 51 people to donate $10 to the Sharing Foundation? It lets you ask your friends for donations instead of presents and makes it easy to thank them.

Donations will be a consequence of meaningful engagement, not a measurement of it. Simplistic appeals targeted at teens and college students don't. Experiment with online contests, both creating them and participating in them. Another approach to the online contest phenomenon is to run your own.
