Amazon security guards had access to the mailbox, giving some workers the impression that Amazon controlled the results.
The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (or RWDSU) has filed objections against Amazon to the National Labor Relations Board, saying that the company has again interfered with its election in Bessemer, Alabama ( via CNBC ). As a result, the outcome depends on a hearing that hasn’t yet been scheduled.
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) determined in January that unionization efforts at the facility had “reached a sufficient showing of interest” to hold an election. Unlike the Bessemer unionization effort, the ALU is not affiliated with a national union or larger organization. The facility employs roughly 5,000 people.
