Their first project is a secondary school for 1,200 girls in Afghanistan where the female literacy rate is only 12%. I gave $25 [which will provide 1 student with textbooks and other supplies for 1 year]. Also known as Project Wonkhai, the school opened it’s doors in March 2009.

Her students consistently score at the top of over 120 schools in the Arusha district of Tanzania. She originally founded the Voice of Women Organization (VWO) to educate girls in Kabul in secret schools under the Taliban, and has since expanded to support and assist underprivileged women and children throughout Afghanistan.

Aid Afghanistan for Education and Peace has the lofty $10,000 goal to fund a school of 300 students for a month. Depending on what you donate, you'll receive notes, photos, or a calendar from the students. Amazingly, the organization has surpassed this goal and (as of this article) has raised $11,547.
