My mother taught me many things, and I feel like with every year she teaches me more – whether she knows it or not. Now, at just 23 years old, Maggie’s work has been featured in the New York Times, and her remarkable story has earned her the DoSomething & CosmoGirl awards.

She has been the recipient of many awards, including Fast Company's 2007 Social Capitalist Award, and the League of Women Voters' Women Who Could Be President Award. I like to remind people of the fact that for $50 you can put a young girl through school in Afghanistan for a year. It's something worth thinking about.
