This is my fourth BlogHer Conference. Amy Gahran gave a writing workshop at BlogHer that was very inspiring. All of the advice about "getting to the point" is what I hope to put into practice in the coming months. What's your advice about improving your blog design or writing? Flowers in the neighborhood.
Earlier this week, I attended SXSW in Austin, Texas and met many interesting people and connected with old friends, including BlogHer colleagues CE's Queen of Spain , Liz Perry , and Virginia DeBolt. In addition, there are several awesome bloghers that write about careers and leadership issues in the nonprofit sector that you should follow.
I got some good feedback and will post some reflections in a bit. I bumped into Millie Garfield who shared some reflections about her "virtual" blogging friends. He gave lots of strategy advice and tips for each segment. I love taking a cross disciplinary perspective - education, nonprofit, and corporate.

At blogher, I attended a workshop on video blogging lead by Ryanne Hodson and Zadi Diaz. Any advice? Presenting (and putting the stream of learning into a powerpoint) is an opportunity for some reflection and storytelling and learning after the fact. The networking was fabulous - meeting many new bloggers in the Boston area as well as seeing long-time blogher buddies and of course, Jory, Lisa, and Elisa. BlogHer always inspires me and this one did not fail. It was better than eating chocolate!
First I gave away money, then stuff, then advice, and then my giving became more intangible. It isn't difficult for me to care and want to help a cause, or an individual entrepreneur on Kiva , or a reader who emails me for advice. I'm sure they'll post their reflections in the week ahead.
I met Laura at Boston Podcamp very briefly and grabbed her card so I could catch up with her for an interview for Blogher. We also found that 1/3 of the respondents hated going to networking events and also did not have business cards that reflect their unique talents. Make time for the three R's: rest, reflection and recreation. It's important to make space for regular (daily, weekly, monthly) times to reflect, rest and recreate to keep you fueled for the long-term.
