I have been waiting to get my hands on the latest 2012 SocialNetworking Benchmark Report because it’s one of the only comprehensive surveys that provides a good overview of how nonprofits are utilizing social media to brand themselves online, connect with new supporters, and raise money. Ever since social media was deemed the coolest communications channel on the block, nonprofits are continuing to question what kind of impact social media has on their bottom line. Survey results also showed that: 97% of marketers believe that social media marketing benefits their business. 7% have raised more than $100K.
It turns out that nonprofits of all sizes are able to scale their fundraising efforts on socialnetworks. The 2011 Nonprofit SocialNetwork Benchmark Report found that 30% of Master Fundraisers – those that brought in more than $100,000 – were small organizations and a further 8% were medium-sized.
Nonprofits are taking advantage of this technology; according to the Nonprofit SocialNetworkingSurvey by NTEN, Common Knowledge & Blackbaud, the average nonprofit’s fan or follower base grew by 30 percent on Facebook and 81 percent on Twitter in 2011.
According to Daum's 2010 survey of 500 Korean nonprofits, text messaging is a widely-adopted communications channel for nonprofit PR purposes, while few Korean nonprofits are using socialnetworks for that purpose. It immediately struck me that this is the reverse of channel usage for U.S.
