Bottom line – nonprofits are having some success in connecting with new constituents and generating action, but the socialnetwork works best when requiring a low level of commitment. Report season is in full effect here at NTEN. We've recently released the 2009 IT Staffing and Spending Report and the 2010 Nonprofit SocialNetwork Benchmark Report (in conjunction with Common Knowledge & thePort). Next up: the 2010 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study we're releasing with M+R Strategic Services.
Google has a number of partners, including socialnetwork sites like LinkedIn, Friendster and Ning, as well as Salesforce, which does have very interesting implications given the increasing use of Salesforce in the nonprofit sector. Basically, if the more socialnetwork sites that adopt OpenSocial, the more open the whole thing gets.
I think people are finally realizing that the current state of affairs – where we can pump data into Facebook and other socialnetworks, but not get data out of them, is untenable. There’s a poll on mashable.com , where the sentiment is most certainly heavily in favor of Facebook opening up the social graph.

So for this post, I'd like to share 5 fundraising trends that we saw emerging in 2009 related to fundraising and social media and that will most definitely continue to have impact in 2010. As we march into 2010, might we see the invention of Real Time Web fundraising events? What is important to take into 2010?
