Developers, consultants, experts and users all like to weigh in with their predictions for 2009’s big developments, innovations and attempts for the coming year. Yesterday, at Make Your Mark’s Social Media Afternoon, I was asked what my predictions were. So, here are my 2009 Predictions for the Social Web.

I am a full-time employee of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and as the Social Media Manager I manage all the social networking efforts for the organization.

In 2008, many of the friends of the Nonprofit Organizations MySpace migrated over to Facebook, then in 2009 and 2010 a good number of the new fans came from @NonprofitOrgs on Twitter. One website may lose its popularity for the next, but I have found that your friends, fans and followers move with you to next one.

Fueled by ego and discontent, these people rant, scream, complain, critique, and hate for hours upon hours on blogs and social networking sites – usually anonymously or using a fake name. Even worse, misery loves company and where one troll finds an online home, many others follow and settle in. Indeed, I struggle with it often.
